How to Set A Page As Homepage
A homepage is the front door to your site. Using the steps in this guide, you can change your homepage to any page you’ve created.
In WordPress, it is possible to specify a page as the homepage by the following workflow:
- Create a page.
- Optionally choose a specific template for the page.
- Tell WordPress that you want to use “a static page” as the homepage in the settings.
Why set a page as homepage?
Many themes require you to use a page with a specific template as the homepage to offer the intended functionality. Otherwise, the homepage will probably only contain the loop instead of the beautiful homepage designed by the theme developers.
Where is the setting located?
Login to the WordPress dashboard. In the sidebar, go to Appearance > Customize > Homepage Settings.
In most themes, the “Homepage Settings” tab won’t be visible if no pages exist.
Then select the option “A static page” and select the page of your choice in the “Homepage” dropdown menu. Publish your changes.
(The same setting can be found in the sidebar under Settings > Reading.)
